1. Lots of Calories, Little Time
When you are performing full-body workouts, your heart rate will get elevated quickly and will stay elevated throughout the duration of the time you’re exercising. While your heart rate remains high, you’re able to burn more calories, more quickly. You get a huge return for a small amount of time. If you are a working mom, or you’re chasing around kids all day and you just don’t have 2 hours in a day to spend at the gym, getting in a 20-30 minute full-body workout can be very effective for you!
2. Functional Movement
When you’re employing the use of full body workouts, you get a lot of practice using that mind-body connection that’s so important to re-establish in the postpartum days. Very rarely, as a mother do you only employ sets of muscles in one way in any given day. You’re bending and picking toys up, holding a baby while walking, or kicking a soccer ball with one child while you play baseball with another. There are so many ways your body has to perform coordinated movements throughout the day and full-body workouts are a great way to practice those types of movements in a controlled environment. Being able to perform functional movements effectively and efficiently in a controlled environment means that you will be at less of a risk of getting injured during your normal, daily activities.
3. Ideal for Home Workouts
Again, this benefit is especially attractive to busy moms. With little to no equipment, you can get a very effective workout in from your living room, bedroom, garage, or wherever it is that you can find some space to exercise! If you’re just starting out and aren’t comfortable using equipment, there are plenty of full-body exercises that can be done with just body weight. And as you progress in your fitness journey and are ready to add in equipment, you can add a big challenge with just a set of resistance bands or set of dumbbells. You don’t have to spend lots of time or money on exercise. You can accomplish workouts that will give you great results at home with little equipment.
Maybe you’ve been struggling with where to begin in your workouts, or maybe you’ve been in the same routine for a few months and just want to mix things up. Why not give full-body workouts a try!
